Frequently asked questions

What is your policy if my Wedding is disrupted by COVID19?

Our full policy for any changes due to COVID is available at the bottom of our Ts&Cs on our Website.

Are all the images on your website of work the Team have actually done?

Yes! All of the images are of previous clients we have been lucky enough to do hair and makeup for.

What makeup products do you use?

We use a range of top makeup brands such as MAC, Smashbox, Napoleon, Bobbi Brown etc in our kits.

Can you cater for larger weddings?

Yes, we have a team of artists so no group is too big or small.

How long will the makeup application and hairstyling take?

For the bride, it takes 2 hours (or 1 hour for makeup or hair only). For bridesmaids, guests, special occasions and school balls it takes 1.5 hours for hair and makeup (or 45 minutes for makeup or hair only). For bigger bookings, we like to allow 30 minutes for hair and makeup touch-ups at the end too.

How far can you travel and what is the charge?

We can travel anywhere within New Zealand. For bookings more than 10km away from our base in Papamoa, there is a fee of $1 per km return trip. We are more than happy to do bookings outside of Tauranga.

What do I need to do to prepare for my booking?

Please wash your hair the day before so it is clean and dry on the day and have nothing but moisturiser on your face. If you have a certain look in mind please have images of the styles you would like so we can use these as a reference on the day.

How long will my makeup last

We use high-quality, long-lasting, waterproof products to ensure your makeup will last all day and well into the night. The only thing you may need to reapply after eating and drinking is your lipstick, so you will be provided with a small touch-up kit which includes your chosen lippy colour.

Do I need to buy lipstick or powder for touch-ups?

We provide all our makeup clients with a complimentary mini touch-up kit. The touch-up kit includes a mini lip-pot of your chosen lipstick colour, blotting paper to remove shine and a cotton tip in case you get any shadow dropping under your eyes. If you get very oily or like full coverage please get a pressed powder to top up during the day after using the blotting paper.

Do I need to have a bridal trial?

It is totally up to you, but we do highly recommend getting a trial done as this is the only way you will know you are completely happy with the look before your Wedding day.

What is a bridal trial?

Bridal hair and makeup trials are when your head stylist for your booking comes to meet up with you before your wedding to do a test run of one hairstyle and one makeup application which will be decided on between you and your stylist at the beginning of the trial.

If you want to try additional hairstyles or makeup looks at your trial this will incur additional fees and the trial will take longer. If you decide you would like to have another trial because you want a different look than you decided on, please be prepared to pay again and rebook.

When should I do my bridal trial?

We suggest you have your trial 1 - 12 weeks before the big day. However, if you would like it sooner or later than this that is no problem.

Should I get extensions?

If you have thin or short hair and want long lush locks then clip-in hair extensions are a great option. Clip-ins are the cheapest and least damaging option. We recommend purchasing from superior hair for the best value for money as well as they have the largest range in NZ https://www.superiorhair.co.nz/

Do I need to cut or prep the hair extensions in any way?

They all come as one set length so if you want them to be shorter or in a set style your hairdresser can usually do this for you but please check with them first. When you purchase the extensions they come with a smoothing coating on them, which makes them heavy and thin. To remove this coating please wash and dry them before use. To wash them simply take them out of the pack and tie them into a pony just below the clips with a hair tie. Wash them twice with shampoo and then once with conditioner. Squeeze all the excess moisture out by rolling up in a dry towel. Take off the hair tie and lie them out flat in a single layer in the shade on a dry towel. The end result will be nice thick natural hair ready to use.

We need to be ready early in the morning so how early can you start?

We can come at any time you need us. For bookings that we need to start before 7 am, there is a $40 early start fee per artist. Starting 6 am - 5 am, there is an $80 early start fee per artist. Starting before 5 am, there is a $100 early start fee per artist.
